About Shastacommons

Two weeks ago we introduced Transition Mount Shasta and the goals we wish to achieve. One of our main initial projects was the development of a user supported website to help facilitate trade within our County, promote local goods and services and to share information of local interest.  With much dedication and hard work, www.shastacommons.org was born.

“Siskiyou Transition Towns Initiative”

The following information was culled from the formal 51 pg. comprehensive document: “TRANSITION INITIATIVE” Credit is hereby given. Please peruse the following websites thoroughly for more information:

In response to the twin pressures of Peak Oil and Climate Change, some pioneering communities in the UK, Ireland and beyond are taking an integrated and inclusive approach to reduce their carbon footprint and increase their ability to withstand the fundamental shifts that will accompany Peak Oil. Currently over 100 towns in the UK have committed to adopt the Transition Initiative, with over 1000 communities worldwide seriously considering it. Our desire is that Mount Shasta and other small communities in Siskiyou County also adopt it.
